So about a year ago I found a jewelry shop on Etsy. They make lots of really unique metal necklaces. I loved their work so I wrote down their shop name and they were added to a list of artists that I might someday commission something from.
Not too long ago, I contacted this same jewelry shop and commissioned a necklace of a set of aces. The aces mean a lot to me in a way that might not make perfect sense.
Everybody who knows me knows that I love books. My favorite book (though I love many) is I Am the Messenger by my favorite author, Markus Zusak. My friends tease me when they see me with it because I’ve read it so many times. It’s one of the things I love the most in the world. What my friends don’t know is that it’s a reminder. This book made such an impact on me. It was like Zusak read my thoughts and emotions and put them on paper. He’s someone who looks at the world in the same way I do. The meaning behind the story is what I live by. Zusak’s words are beautiful. I know I may sound a bit over dramatic, but it doesn’t even matter because only I know how much this story means to me.
If you haven’t read the book, then my aces won’t make sense to you but I’m sharing them anyway.
My aces are made of white bronze with a silver plated finish. Each card is about 2 cm by 1 cm, though that’s not exact. I love them and I’m so happy with how they turned out. Check out LostApostle to see more of their work.
